Refinery Inspection Services
We inspect assets with non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection techniques, enabling refinery piping, storage tanks, pressure vessels, flare stacks, and other assets to stay in-service during inspections to maximize operational uptime.
We perform these services in the field, inspecting for corrosion, erosion, leaking, cracking, and other mechanical integrity concerns that affect refinery assets. We also offer in-house lab services to inspect for discontinuities in newly-fabricated components such as welded components, castings, raw materials, and machined parts.
MISTRAS deploys rope access and unmanned inspection teams to access assets in hard-to-reach and confined locations. Our certified pilots utilize drones for preliminary visuals on potential problem areas, helping to pre-qualify inspection and maintenance plans, and our small rope access teams follow up with more intensive inspections.

Refinery Maintenance Services
Using small, multi-disciplined inspection and maintenance crews, our teams provide light mechanical services to prepare assets for inspections, such as removing insulation to inspect for corrosion under insulation (CUI). We’ll also remedy minor damages found during the inspection process, such as performing corrosion mitigation. These teams can also perform installations of monitoring systems, enabling plant operators to stay informed of their asset’s conditions at all times.

MISTRAS’ pipeline crawlers are adaptable to fit many pipeline diameters, providing real-time identification, location, and sizing of weld material defects.
Our expansive pipeline fleet enables us to access and assess pipelines in remote locations. We also offer monitoring systems for hard-to-access pipelines, which report changes in pipeline cross-sections back to pipeline operators, reducing the costs and hazards associated with regularly visiting these assets.
